Sandbach Flash’s: Gulling

An over due trip to down to Sandbach Flash’s, Cheshire today for some winter gulling in search of some white-wingers at one of Britain’s top inland gulling sites. Unfortunately due to the local tip being closed the gull action was as good as it could be, but a few goodies where about with both an adult Yellow-legged Gull & after several hours a 1st winter Iceland Gull dropped in for a bath.

The feeders around the flash held a flock of 18 Eurasian Tree Sparrow as well as a Common Treecreeper mixing with a loose flock of Long-tailed Tit; this Sparrow species is particularly scarce in Wirral & Cheshire so it was good to see this species and add it to my year list.

Elsewhere little was about, a single Ruff which made a brief stop off on Elton Hall Flash before heading over to Pump House where it joined a Black-tailed Godwit, a flock of 46 Pink-footed Geese (2 on EHF), headed west EHF and Northern Lapwing numbered 570c.
